I would just like to share my appreciation and gratification to Ger the male receptionist. He is a lovely, genuine and a real down to earth fella who is a credit to your company. Your new wee mate all the way from Belfast, Emma.

Friendly staff
Our stay was extremely disappointing.
The breakfast buffet was a disaster. When we arrived, many of the food trays were empty, including those for scrambled eggs, fruit, and various other items. Nothing was replenished promptly. There were no glasses available for juice, and the dispensers were empty. To top it off, the coffee machines weren’t working.
We asked a server for help, but she simply said we had to wait and that there was nothing she could do. We understand that staff can be under pressure, but that is no way to treat guests.
The biggest disappointment came later that day. We returned to our room around 5:00 PM to find it hadn’t been cleaned. The beds were unmade, the trash hadn’t been removed, and the bathroom was still dirty. When we asked the housekeeping staff, they simply told us they were too busy and wouldn’t be cleaning our room.
The only solution offered was providing clean towels after we requested them. While we appreciated getting clean towels, that doesn’t make up for the room not being cleaned. We paid to stay at this hotel to relax, not to make our own beds, deal with the trash, and do the cleaning ourselves.
When we reported all this at the front desk, the only response we got was “We’re sorry,” followed by a question about whether we needed toilet paper or anything else. No real solution was offered, nor was any effort made to resolve the situation.
To make matters worse, we decided to give the breakfast buffet another chance the following morning because we were told that what happened the previous day was unusual and had never happened before. Unfortunately, we had the exact same experience. After paying for breakfast, we waited more than 20 minutes for the scrambled eggs, sausages, and juice to be refilled. The coffee machines were working this time, but that was the only improvement. If the hotel knows how many guests are staying each day, it should have enough staff to keep the buffet stocked and provide the level of service guests are paying for. Waiting that long for basic breakfast items is simply unacceptable.
In short, this experience fell far short of our expectations. A hotel should provide basic services like a well-stocked breakfast, a clean room, and helpful staff. Unfortunately, we received none of that. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this hotel at all, and we would definitely not stay here again.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your stay fell so far short of the experience we aim to provide.
We particularly apologise for the issues you experienced with breakfast. Empty food trays, a lack of glasses and juice, and coffee machines not working are certainly not the standard we expect from our breakfast service. We are also disappointed to hear that you experienced similar delays again the following morning. Your comments will be shared with our Food & Beverage team so that the issues around replenishment, staffing and communication can be addressed.
We are equally sorry that your room had not been serviced when you returned at approximately 5pm. We understand that having to return to an unmade room, with rubbish remaining and the bathroom not serviced, is extremely disappointing. While we are pleased that clean towels were provided, we appreciate that this did not resolve the wider issue.
We also acknowledge your comments regarding the response from our reception team. An apology alone is not always enough when a guest has experienced multiple service issues, and we are sorry that you did not feel that your concerns were properly addressed or that a meaningful solution was offered.
This is certainly not the level of service we want our guests to experience, and we are disappointed that we did not deliver on this occasion. We appreciate your feedback as it highlights areas where we need to improve and ensure t
We recently stayed at the Maldron Hotel in Limerick while attending the OCR Obstacle Course Racing World Championships, which were being held at the Limerick Racecourse. Overall, our stay was comfortable and convenient, although there were a few things that could have made it better.
The biggest consideration for us was the location. Getting back and forth to the racecourse cost us about €30 each day by taxi, so if you are attending an event there, that is definitely something to factor into your budget.
The rooms themselves were OK and were cleaned every day, which we appreciated. The staff throughout the hotel was helpful and friendly. The room also had very good room-darkening shades, which made it easy to sleep. However, I personally prefer having a top sheet on the bed, and there was not one. There was also no safe in the room, which surprised me and would have been nice for passports and valuables while traveling.
One interesting feature is the energy-saving card-key system. You have to place your room key in a slot to keep the electricity on in the room, so when you leave with the key, the power shuts off. The hallways also have motion-sensor lighting that comes on as you walk through. It takes a little getting used to, but I understand the energy-saving concept behind it.
There is an on-site restaurant, which we found to be OK—not necessarily a destination restaurant, but very convenient after a long day when you don’t feel like going back out.
There is also an outdoor patio area, although during our stay it seemed to be used primarily by smokers, so it wasn’t really an area where we wanted to sit and relax.
Overall, the Maldron Hotel was a decent and practical place to stay for our trip to Limerick. The daily housekeeping and helpful staff were definite positives. With a few additional room amenities, particularly a safe and traditional top sheet, it would have made our stay even more comfortable.
Thank you for your detailed review, Ruth. We’re pleased you found our staff helpful and friendly and enjoyed the comfort of your stay. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back to Maldron Hotel Limerick again.
